Bill lanning, AIA

Principal

Bill believes that housing is a human right. He has been practicing architecture for more than 30 years and has dedicated himself to MWA’s housing practice with the goal of providing dignified, affordable housing. He thrives on the challenge of working with the design team, clients, and contractors to create solutions that work on multiple levels of a project. His collaborative approach and ability to see the bigger picture make him a valuable asset to every stage of the design process.

A strong listener, Bill takes in information objectively, processes it effectively, and offers thoughtful input to help guide projects toward success. With a deep sense of empathy, he strives to find solutions that balance multiple goals and meet the needs of all stakeholders involved.

At MWA, Bill integrates the firm’s core values into every decision, helping shape the way projects are approached and executed. His thoughtful, solutions-oriented mindset continues to contribute to MWA’s ongoing development and success.

Outside of work, Bill enjoys biking, hiking, playing soccer, and exploring the many 7-Eleven locations across the Portland Metro area for his daily Big Gulp. As his kids grow into adulthood, he’s on the lookout for new hobbies to explore.
