Located at the entrance to Airport Drive, the Spokane International Airport (SIA) Administration Building and its accompanying monument sign are the first landmarks to welcome travelers, staff, and visitors to the airport campus. The project acts as the front door to the airport campus and sets a confident, forward-looking tone for Spokane’s growing aviation hub.

The need for a new administration facility emerged from a practical challenge: airport leadership and operations staff were housed above the terminal’s ticketing area, a location that no longer met FAA requirements or the team’s growing space needs. Relocating these functions outside the terminal created an opportunity to establish a secure, flexible, and highly functional environment that supports both daily operations and long-term growth. Positioned prominently along the main approach, the new building is visible, accessible, and carefully planned to balance security with a welcoming civic presence. Its distinctive A-shaped footprint maximizes daylight, solar orientation, and views back to the terminal, while landscaped berms and layered site design define a secure perimeter without sacrificing openness. The result is an operationally resilient headquarters capable of continuous use, even during terminal disruptions, and a clear point of arrival reinforced by a monument sign that sets the tone for future campus wayfinding.
Inside, the building is organized around the needs of diverse administrative teams, combining flexible office layouts, private workspaces, and shared collaboration areas to accommodate growth and evolving workflows. Public-facing spaces such as the lobby and boardroom are thoughtfully separated from secure zones, supporting both transparency and discretion. A Wellness Suite with fitness, quiet, and shower facilities acknowledges the demands of around-the-clock operations, while biophilic elements, natural light, and interior planting foster a calm and supportive workplace. High-performance systems, including electrochromic glazing, reduce heat gain and improve comfort, complemented by site strategies such as on-site stormwater management, efficient fixtures, and solar-ready infrastructure. Beyond its operational role, the building extends into the community through its boardroom and outdoor plaza, offering a venue for public meetings and events and reinforcing the airport’s role as a regional partner.
