The Olympia Crest Apartments project extends the community through two separate phases of new apartment buildings. Through iterative success over the years, Olympia Crest represents a commitment to longevity and HATC’s mission to provide accessible, comfortable, and interconnected affordable housing.

EXPANDING UPON SUCCESS
The project goal was to maximize housing density while creating a community that feels like home. MWA developed efficient unit types, each 14 feet wide, that could be repeated across the site. This streamlined design approach simplified construction, permitting, and cost management.
To create visual interest without relying heavily on costly material selection, MWA created variation in massing, roof articulation, building heights, and color. Subtle shifts in massing and depth create shadows and provide character. Board-and-batten siding grounds the buildings at the base, contrasting with horizontal lap siding above. These strategies balanced cost with long-term value, achieving durability while sustaining architectural interest.
The children’s play area is adjacent to and interwoven with ecologically protected trees that provide access to the surrounding natural beauty.
PRIORITIZING FAMILY LIVING
The larger development was designed to support growing families with access to community, nature, safety, and ample space. The iterative themes throughout the neighborhood help define a sense of familiarity, place, and belonging that encourages exploration.
Phase III completes the larger site and third and final plot with three new residential buildings comprising one- and two-bedroom apartments.
The Phase III design was guided by successful Phase II features such as sheltered porches and distinct color profiles.
