Matthew Salazar

Design Technology Manager

Matthew is a problem solver deeply passionate about BIM and digital tools, so he naturally found himself in the world of design technology management. With extensive expertise in Revit and BIM workflows, he focuses on helping the team find solutions that work, drawing upon new technologies and methods to help our tools work with architects rather than against them. Drawing on his background in architecture, he translates complex technical concepts into clear, practical guidance. He understands how design teams think, which helps him build workflows that feel intuitive and useful. Matthew’s interest in cutting-edge digital advancements and software trends stems from his longstanding enthusiasm for building technology and how it can improve our cities.

Matthew values MWA’s commitment to community-driven design, sustainability, and social equity. He finds meaning in supporting work that has a direct, positive impact on local communities. He personifies MWA’s values by fostering a collaborative Community across our offices, using Creativity to solve complex modeling issues, taking Responsibility for sensible standards, and finding Meaning in empowering our teams to do their best work without software struggles holding them back.

Outside of work, Matthew enjoys exploring Portland’s food scene and taking short hikes with his wife, their son, and their dog. He has a natural curiosity and enjoys diving into new topics, but his main haunts are music, movies, geography, and college football. He brings a highly analytical, enthusiastic approach to everything he does, whether he’s meticulously maintaining spreadsheets or perfecting his trivia skills.
