City of Oakland Police Department Eastmont Precinct

Oakland, CA

The new facility is a conversion of an existing department store in the run-down Eastmont Mall.

This is the first neighborhood-based precinct for Oakland and department personnel were concerned over their move to a location remote from their downtown headquarters. The facility design helped allay their concerns as they now have more spacious and comfortable working quarters tailored to their specific needs. A careful balance between accessibility and security was achieved in the design. The lobby’s curved design allows views from the reception area to all building entry points and community meeting rooms. Finishes were selected for durability and ease of maintenance.
