The first goals and objectives are to upgrade the outdated infrastructure. Once the infrastructural aspects are improved, the Port can move into subsequent phases to improve the passenger environment. Even in the first phase, however, we are taking the opportunity to propose new finishes, including a terrazzo floor which will signal the future design of Terminal 1. That walkway, with its curved line pattern represents the ethereal nature of water and airflow, linking the passengers to the environment of Oakland’s airport-on-the-estuary.
