With a passion for improving the built environment, Michael Willis established Michael Willis & Associates in May of 1988. Jeffrey McGraw was hired to work on the firm’s first project; Carlton Smith joined the firm as studio director in 1995. Here we are in 2009; Michael, Carlton and Jeff are firm owners, based in San Francisco, Oakland and Portland.

As we celebrate 21 years in practice, we also mark a transition: Michael Willis & Associates became Michael Willis Architects in 1998, and will now be known as MWA Architects. Now, 21 years later, we are pleased announce new talent and leadership within the firm.
